Guide to a better life.

GUIDE TO A BETTER LIFE
This is amazing, Randy Pausch 47 yrs old, A computer Sc. lecturer from Mellon University he died of pancreatic cancer in 2008, but wrote a book 'The last lecture" before then, one of the bestsellers in 2007. What a legacy to leave behind…
In a letter to his wife and his children, Dylan, Logan, and Chloe, he wrote this beautiful "guide to a better life" for his wife and children to follow. May you be blessed by his insight?

POINTS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE
Personality:
1. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
2. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment
3. Don't overdo; keep your limits
4. Don't take yourself so seriously; no one else does
5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip
6. Dream more while you are awake
7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
8. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
10. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present
11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.
13. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
14. Smile and laugh more
15. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
Community:
16. Call your family often
17. Each day give something good to others
18. Forgive everyone for everything
19. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6
20. Try to make at least three people smile each day
21. What other people think of you is none of your business
22. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch.
Life:
23. Do the right things
24. However good or bad a situation is, it will change
25. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up
26. The best is yet to come
27. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful
While you practice all of the above, share this knowledge with the people you love, people you school with, people you play with, people you work with and people you live with. Not only will it enrich YOUR life, but also that of those around you.

One week in India....Why can't life be more dynamik

Today its been a week since we arrived in Jaipur. My feelings are mixed. on one hand I tell myself that I should just take it easy and let life take its own course- but on the other hand I feel so frustrated about things moving so slowly here. Maybe its my personality or maybe its just the change of place.... its a bit unnerving.

The house is getting done at its own sweet pace. Why cant we have machines here which can speed up work. Alop seems to be on the edge all the time - i guess h too is frustrated at times but can't say it (coz i'd sit on his head)

I feel a bit pulled back. I don't have a car which I can drive and go do my own thing.I have to rely on a driver all the time which I don't like. the accessibility to extra curricular activities of kids is much worse here. every thing seems so far away.

i miss singapore so much. I miss my life and my freedom and my ability to have control over everything.I miss the convenience of classes i had for the kids. my friends... will I ever get it back again - i wonder.....

A fun Farewell Night with friends

Its getting more and more emotional. I can't believe the clock is ticking so fast. Yesterday Tania & Prema took me out to Lantern at Fullerton Bay for dinner . The weather was perfect - just like the company.... we were there for four hours, chatting, reminiscing our times together - what our future maybe like and how much I am gonna miss them....

Its relationships like these which make you feel so worthwhile in life. The only great thing about moving is the new friends you make which stay for a life!

Friends

A beautiful table runner (reversible) handmade by my friend shalini
(shalini & I met wen she first attended my bollywood class). On the
runner she has used leaves from her garden to blockprint. An extremely
talented woman. Her daughter (also a BollyBeatz student) made the
farewell card for us!

A very precious gift as she put in days of hardwork & thought into it!
Thank god for such wonderful friends !
